CEO: Gazprom exports record 194 bcm of gas to non-CIS sates 2017

MOSCOW, Jan 9 (PRIME) -- Russian gas giant Gazprom has set a new record of its natural gas exports to non-CIS countries after raising exports by 8.1% on the year to 193.9 billion cubic meters in 2017, CEO Alexei Miller told reporters on January 3.

Previously, Gazprom said it set an absolute daily record of gas exports to non-CIS countries of 640 million cubic meters on December 19, 2017.

“We have set a new record of annual gas exports. The latest data showed the company exported 193.9 billion cubic meters of gas to non-CIS countries in 2017, which exceeds the previous record set in 2016 by 14.6 billion cubic meters, or by 8.1%,” Miller said.

“The record setting trend that prevails in the last two years points to demand for Russian gas in European countries that grows actively on the one hand, and its reliable exports in necessary volumes on the other hand.”

Gazprom exported a record of 53.4 bcm of gas to Germany in the year, up 7.1% as compared with 2016. Exports to Austria went up 40% to 8.5 bcm, to the Netherlands by 9.7% to 4.6 bcm, to France by 6.8% to 12.3 bcm, to the Czech Republic by 28% to 5.8 bcm, to Slovakia by 24.5% to 4.6 bcm, and to Denmark by 1.9% to 1.75 bcm.

Miller also said that Gazprom’s exports to Turkey increased 17.3% on the year to 29 bcm in 2017, which is also a historical record for the company.

The company’s latest data showed its gas production rising 12.4% to 471 billion cubic meters in 2017. “This is the best dynamics of the company’s output growth for its whole history. In absolute figures, the output went up 51.9 billion cubic meters,” he said.
